Overall you could certainly drive yourself to all these locations and visit them independently but you would be missing out on a wealth of history, knowledge and true southern hospitality that will no doubt enhance your experience of the Amalfi Coast. There were some wonderful panoramic stops and even a lemon tasting in a lay-by from a local farmer. We asked to be left in Positano as we were spending a couple of days here and Giuseppe went out of his way to ring our hotel and make sure we arrived exactly where we needed to be. (So much so that we asked him to come and pick us up at the end of our stay). Magical ! We could have navigated the roads on our own in a rental car but they were very tricky (despite one of us being Italian) and we were definitely grateful for Alessandro’s smooth and effortless driving which made us feel safe the whole way. First stop was Ravello and we followed Giuseppe’s suggestion and visited Villa Rufolo. We stopped in several places to take wonderful pictures and due to the early time of the day we were the only ones. read more chatted to us all the way through, describing the history of Naples, Pompeii and Ercolano and everything in between. Giuseppe and Alessandro picked us up from the train station and were very welcoming and helpful.
